Powder coating has been available as a service in North America for over 40 years. In that time a great deal of information has been made available about what it is, how it works, and what it is good for. This section of our website is not an FAQ on powder coating, but instead an overview of the questions that are seldom asked:

When having a product powder coated, some of the basic questions you should ask are:

  • Where do I want to use this?
  • Will it be exposed to moisture, salt water, fog, pollution, etc?
  • How long do I expect it to last?
  • Will it be in direct sunlight?
  • If the coating fails, will the product become inoperable?
  • What is the cost to maintain the coating?

More often than not the assumption is that because an item it is powder coated it will last “forever”.

Bad news: EVERY COATING FAILS.

It is our job at Aegis to ensure that the coating you choose will not fail prematurely. The right coating system is only part of the solution, if you want your finish to last you need to understand how your product is being prepared to receive the coating as well.
